Jeffrey James Speiser
Jeffrey James Speiser, age 51, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at his home in Boise, Idaho.
Jeff was born to Loren D. and Suzanne Speiser in Baker, Montana. His family moved to Missoula, Montana, before he started school. He attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary school and Loyola-Sacred Heart High School in Missoula. At LSH, Jeff was a standout football player, achieving All-Conference and All-State honors. He graduated from LSH in 1983.
Jeff played college football at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and Carroll College in Helena, Montana. He also attended the University of Montana in Missoula. He married Margaret (Missy) Packer in 1993 and started a family. The family relocated to Boise in 1995 to join his brother Jon and sister LaDonna. He went to work at Micron where he became a journeyman pipefitter – a position that took him across the United States from Virginia to Hawaii. Jeff was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 296 starting in 2005. Jeff's first grandchild, Declan, was born on May 8, 2016, and quickly became one the greatest joys of Jeff's life.
Jeff came from a long line of New York Yankee fans and travelled with his brother Jon to see them play many times. As famous Yankee Yogi Berra once said, "Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too." He was also an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders and Montana Grizzlies. Jeff had a contagious sense of humor and loved comedy in all forms. Jeff had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone who asked.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Suzanne and Loren "Dude" Speiser. He is survived by his children Sarah and Ryan Speiser, grandson Declan, brothers Bruce Wilson and Jon Speiser, and sister LaDonna Speiser. Jeff was a loyal, devoted friend to many people, and he will be deeply missed.
A memorial service for Jeff will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at UA Local Plumbers and Pipefitters 296, 575 N. Ralstin, Meridian, Idaho.
