I only knew Gale for a short period when I came to work at the VA, but his always cheerful attitude stood out at work. When Gale retired his absence was noticed then, I can only imagine how it feels now. My best to all of his family and friends.

My deepest condolences to you and your families with the passing of my friend Gale Hacking. As you know, Gale was loved by nearly everyone he came in contact with. His generous smile and giving heart were just two things Gale had impeccably given so freely. You must be very proud of your dad for his struggles were overcome with the gift of sobriety! I've known Gale for around 10 years and he was always the one who held a person up not tear them down. I know he's happy because he went to heaven, but believe me, he would've stayed here with his family if he could've. Please get ahold of me through my email if there's anything you need in preparation for June 23rd or anything else. It would be a pleasure to step up and help you in honoring Gale. God bless, I'll be praying for all of you...
