Sorry to hear of Dons passing. I taught at South Jr. High with Don for many years
and have many great memories of him. His many stories kept us in stitches. His
name is fondly mentioned among his old friends.

I remember Mr Dahlquist from my Jr High art class. My first venture into still life drawing and woodblock cutting. He had this booming voice and you could hear him singing all the time. I remember thinking this was very odd. I remember a girl in my same class with the name Mariah. He would sing "And they call the wind Mariah" every time he did role call. I still sing these word in my head. I never hear them spoken and that is because of Mr Dahlquist.
Art plays a large role in my life. I became an Art major in college and I know Mr Dahlquist helped lay the ground work and fostered my creativity. I know teachers don't always get feed back on whose lives they connect with or help send down the path of self discovery. I just wanted to share and offer my condolences. I wish you all peace. I am sorry to hear of Mr. Dahlquist's passing. I was instantly taken back to art class at South Junior High in Moorhead -- and a favorite teacher, Mr. Dahlquist. He challenged me to think outside the box in some of my artwork and was quick with praise, but didn't skimp on constructive criticism either. I've quoted him over the last 45+ years. I think the sign of a great teacher is when students remember you with fondness. God bless your memory.
Fondly,
Anne (Brunsvold) Roberts
