William James Whitsitt

1935 ~ 2022 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Tribute

William J. Whitsitt Sr., 87, of Boise, ID passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 of natural causes.

Bill was born February 19, 1935 in Houston, TX to James Herbert Whitsitt and Mary Mozelle Rogers. The family moved to Notus, ID in 1941, one week after the attack on Pearl Harbor, to reunite with family who had already moved to Idaho.

Eventually, Bill moved to Caldwell where he married Marilyn Myers just after his junior year at Caldwell High School in 1953. They had two children together. Vicky, born in 1954 and Greg, born in 1956. Bill and Marilyn parted ways in 1969. Then, in 1972, Bill married Dorothy Austin. Dorothy already had two small children, RJ and Angela, who Bill adopted shortly after.

Bill’s employment with the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union brought him to Tri-Cities and Seattle, WA and San Jose, CA for work. After Dorothy and Bill were divorced in 1987, Bill met Billie Jean Hammer in San Jose. They were married in 1988.

When Bill retired in 1992, he and Jeani moved back to Boise to be closer to his family. They spent the next 30 years of retirement surrounded by family and friends. In these years, you could find Bill in his shop doing some woodworking projects or out on the water with a fishing pole in hand. They also enjoyed taking their motor home to Sumpter, OR, the mountains around Idaho, and up to see family in Washington. Bill had a great passion for fishing and hunting and would go as often as possible. This love for the outdoors was passed on to his children/grandchildren and he cherished the many memories they made together.

To know Bill was a blessing. He was a hard worker who was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor and the best laugh. Bill was very loved and he will be missed deeply.

He is survived by his two brothers Jerry (Bobbie) and Gaylord (Kay), four children, Vicky (Rocky), Greg (Ella), RJ (Danielle) and Angela Berkenbile, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. A grave side memorial service will be held at a later date (TBD).
