William Drauszewski

April 19, 1961 ~ December 31, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

William Joseph Drauszewski of Boise, ID, passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2017, after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer. He succumbed peacefully into the arms of Our Savior, surrounded by his family and knowing he was greatly loved by those left behind.

Bill was born on April 19, 1961 in Topeka, KS, to Joseph C. and Grace B. Drauszewski. Bill lived the life of an Air Force brat, living in exotic locales such as W. Germany, Turkey, Kansas, Washington, Wyoming, Utah, and Maryland before graduating high school in Vicenza, Italy, in 1979. For a time, Bill lived the life of a single construction worker in Manassas, VA, where he took up the fine art of hunting, especially bow hunting. This is where he met, courted, and married Monique Trotter of Manassas, VA, in 1989. In 1993, wanting a better life for their impending family, Bill and Mo moved west and settled in Mountain Home, ID. They welcomed son Levi in 1994 and daughter Noa in 1997. The family moved to Boise in 2001, where Bill started his own construction business, LN Swenson, which he ran from his couch until his passing.

Bill was an avid outdoor adventurer who loved to hunt, fish, and pick huckleberries. Each spring, he kept the Boise River and lower mountain areas safe from the scourge of a morel mushroom infestation. Before his passing, he began learning to fish for Kokanee, just relishing the chance to be outside. Bill loved to hunt for elk, deer, and birds of any feather. He was always passing on his knowledge of the outdoor world to anyone willing to listen.

Bill is survived by his wife of 28 years, Monique Drauszewski, and their two children, Levi and Noa Drauszewski, his father Joseph C. Drauszewski, brothers and spouses Matthew and Lora Drauszewski, Andrew and Nancy Drauszewski, Mark and Judy Drauszewski, sisters and spouses Diane and John Reed and Tammy and Jim Peters. Bill will be sorely missed by many other family members and friends for years to come.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 11:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 1500 E. Wright St. Boise, ID  83706.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Bill Drauszewski Memorial Fund at any Idaho Central Credit Union branch.
