Varlan “Linn” Linnean was born March 26, 1943 in Columbus, OH to Roy and Velta Linnean. His family then moved to Weatherford, OK where he and his other 4 siblings grew up working hard and playing harder from sun up to sun down but Idaho has been his home for the last 50 years. Linn proudly served his country by joining the Air Force and serving 3 tours in Vietnam. During this 20 years, he was able to enjoy our great nation as well as several other countries.
Linn sought higher education after the Air Force and graduated from ITT Technical Institute. After obtaining his degree, Linn worked for Micron Technology for 13 years before moving on to Treasure Valley Coffee where he retired after 9 years.
Linn loved the mountains and loved going hunting, fishing. Even just a day trip into the beautiful Idaho Mountains made him happy. He also loved riding motorcycles, especially his Baby. Linn loved hitting the road and taking road trips from Alaska to North Carolina. In his later years he really enjoyed watching any shows that were about cars, house DIY, history or guns.
Linn was always a sarcastic one that had no trouble in giving anyone a hard time. Harassing you meant he really liked you. He loved learning and was filled with so much information, just when you didn’t think he would know something he would throw out a fact.
Linn raised 4 of his children in Idaho: James (Leslie Eunson) Shawn & Verlea (Janna Freemen) and Verdeana (Deanna Lake)
Linn met his loving wife Dora back in the new-found internet chat rooms over 21 years ago. Dora was living in Illinois at the time. After several visits between Idaho and Illinois, Linn, on his last visit in August brought something special … a ring to propose to her with. (She said yes) Deciding that they wanted to get married on her parents wedding anniversary they had a lot to plan in a short amount of time as September was fast approaching. A week before the wedding Dora received a call, the church they were planning on getting married in burnt down. But luckily the fireplace that her parents had been married in front of years ago had been moved out years ago during a renovation and they had that to be married in front of. After the wedding Dora moved out to Idaho and for the next 21 years the couple lived watching their families grow. The two had many adventures travelling, camping and fishing. They were able to travel to visit their growing family and to see the country together creating many new memories that will live on.
Linn is survived by his wife, Dora. Brother, Skip (Phyllis) Linnean. Children: James Linnean, Shawn (Iva) Linnean, Verlea (Joe) Hudson, Verdeana Grant, Michelle Jenkins, Charity (Bret) Spencer and 30 adoring grandchildren and 28 amazing great grandchildren. Linn was preceded in death by his loving mother (Velta), 3 sibilings (Valroy, Verschelle & Verlynne), wife (Janna), granddaughter (Jadienne) & son in law (Kevin).
