Terry Garten

Terry Lee Garten was born January 10, 1948 to Lionel Scott Garten and Greta Marie Garten in Huntington, West Virginia. He was the ninth born out of ten children, survived by Phyllis, Frances, Johnny, Robert, Beverly, and Lois. Terry is also survived by his wife, Kathy, his two children, Christine and Tyson,  3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and a close family friend whom he considered a son, Fred McLeod.

When he was 18 years old, Terry joined the United States Air Force and served as a staff sergeant for six years. He became pen pals with his wife, Kathy, in 1966. They met for the first time in 1970, and were married in 1971. Terry and Kathy were blessed with two children; Christine born in 1972, and Tyson born in 1975. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1972, Terry worked as a title rep in real estate, mortgage, and title companies. However, he most enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, his horses, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Terry finally found peace with the Lord one month before he passed, and spent his last weeks reading his bible with Kathy and making amends with those he loved.
