Sidney Freeburg

December 11, 1932 ~ June 3, 2021 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Tribute

Sidney passed away in his sleep early in the morning of June 3rd 2021 after a four your battle with cancer. During this four-year period of time, he also was a 24/7 caregiver for his wife Betty just a month short of 65 years of marriage.

He was born in Declo, Idaho in December of 1932 and shortly after the family moved to central Idaho around Riggins Idaho where he grew up. Before graduating High School, he joined the Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He returned to Riggins and married Betty a year later. He worked in the Riggins Lumber mill for four years. While working in the mill, he completed his High School GED and took an FCC correspondence course through the mail and then passed the FCC first class test. Shortly after, they moved to McCall Idaho where he worked for Tim Electric and then the telephone company. They moved to Homedale and he continued to work for the same telephone company until he retired as a central office manager in the late eighties.

He was a long-time member of the Lions Club in McCall and joined the Gourd society with Betty while living in Homedale. He had several hobbies outside of work and into retirement. With his undying love of learning and labor, he took on any task he was interested in and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was a very patient and focused person. If you knew Sid you know that he loved to talk.

He was a kind and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He was always there when anyone needed help or advice. He is survived by his wife Betty, their children—Tami, Tim, and Tony—eight Grandchildren, and ten Great Grandchildren.
