Richard Alden Aslett, 75, passed away at the Veterans Hospice Care Center on May 9, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was born June 19, 1943 in Twin Falls to Opal and Duane Aslett. He grew up in Sugar Loaf and Dietrich until joining the Navy in December 1960 thru March 1964. After the Navy he moved to Pocatello where he meet and married Sherrie Harmer. They had two children, Annette and Ryan and later divorced. During that period Rick and his brother Larry owned and operated a paint and drywalling business, Aslett Auto, Sun West Paint Store.
He later married Linda Hunter. Together they owned and operated L & R Painting and Contracting, bought and flipped houses in Pocatello. After retiring to Nampa, they continued buying and remodeling the many houses they lived in. Rick always took great pride in making everything better than when he found it. Rick and Linda enjoyed lots of trips driving down alleys and on backroads looking for their next great adventure with another house, car, trailer, camper or maybe motorhome just to play or work with. Throughout his life Rick had a talent for nicknaming people and places, which everyone else seemed to call them by. Rick was great at telling stories about his family, his step-daughter Julie loved them and suggested they be written down, but we never did.
Rick is survived by his wife, Linda, son Ryan (Mackenzie), daughter Annette (Mike) Renning, grandson Nate, stepdaughter Julie (David) Streubel, grandchildren Clara and Joey. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Barbara), Larry, Dee (Myrna) and brother-in-law Gene Kisling as well as many nephews, nieces and close friends. Rick & Linda were grateful for the comfort and support of Dee and Myrna during his illness. He enjoyed many evenings reminiscing with Dee while in the hospital.
Rick was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Kisling, sister-in-law LaDonna Aslett and both sets of grandparents. He leaves a big space in the hearts of all who love him.
Cremation took place by Cremation Society Idaho.Per his request no services will be held.
