Tribute

Michael Joe Payne 79, of New Plymouth, ID died suddenly on April 4, 2024.

Mike was born to Neilsena Hegsted Payne on Feb. 16, 1945 in Ogden, UT.

He served in the Army between 1963 and 1966, earning 2 purple hearts and a bronze star. He served as an infantryman in Vietnam and had earned his jump wings.

He met and married Richie C De Baca in Colorado, May 1, 1971. They had twins Dec. 22 1972, Stephanie and Stephen.  The family moved to Boise, Id in 1977 where Mike worked as a letter carrier. He retired in April 2000 after working 33 years 4 months and 13 days. Richie passed away March 26, 2001.

Mike moved out to the country in 2004. He married Jamie Mann April 2006.

He loved to hunt in his younger years, later he went fishing anytime he could, especially with his dog Katie.

He was preceded in death by his mother Neilsena, wife Richie and brother Bill.

Mike was loved and will be missed by his wife Jamie. Children Stephanie and Stephen (Susan) Payne. Grandchildren Ashley (Dylan) Johnson, Drew and Hailey Bledsoe, Taylor and Cody Payne, Chris and Jamie (Jessie) Ward, Darold Jr and Cyle Hart, 7 great grandchildren.

Sisters Diana (Virgil) Loveall, Stephanie Weaver and numerous extended family members.

The poem "Gone Fishing" by David Ritter is a perfect tribute to Mike. He was cremated and requested no services will be held.
