Joan Marilyn Irons

September 22, 1929 ~ April 21, 2022 (age 92)

Joan Irons, beloved wife, compassionate mother, doting grandma, and dedicated teacher, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born in Kellogg, Idaho, and attended the University of Idaho where she met her future husband Roy Irons.

They moved to Wendell, Idaho, in 1950 where they began their teaching careers and started their family. After living in Wendell for fourteen years, the family moved to Boise where she continued her teaching career. Jo was a longtime member of PEO Chapter BC, University of Idaho Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and Christ Presbyterian Church.

Jo’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. Jo loved playing Yahtzee and dominos with the kids. She loved her annual Christmases visiting her daughter’s family in Arizona. The legacy of Jo’s kind spirit and zest for life will live on through all of us.

She also loved the times spent at Warm Lake at the family cabin for thirty years. She enjoyed looking for deer and picking huckleberries and was famous for her huckleberry pancakes.

She also had a passion for movies and was an avid viewer of Monk, thrillers and period dramas.

We would like to thank the staff at Grace Assisted Living and All Care Hospice for their loving and supportive care of our dear mother.  At Jo’s request, there will be a celebration of life for family at a later date. Memorial tributes in Joan Irons’ name may be made to P.E.O Chapter BC in care of Marcia Rausch, 4848 W Hillcrest Drive, Boise, ID, 83705.

“May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
