James H. Iverson

October 30, 1935 ~ May 8, 2023 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Tribute

Jim was born at home in western Minnesota to Helmer and Helen Iverson. Jim grew up with five brothers and sisters. Jim enjoyed his youth with his siblings in Minnesota especially the winters and summers. After High School and a University pre-law program, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent 22 years. Jim served one tour of duty in Korea during the war and three tours during Vietnam. 10 of his 22 years in the service were spent overseas allowing him to serve in and visit over 50 countries.

Jim met Barbara Rambo while stationed at Mtn. Home AFB and they married in the Base chapel. Together they raised three children, Daniel, Loree, and Patrick.

After his military career, Jim returned to college at Boise State University where he completed a Masters Degree in Social Services and Public Administration. Jim then went to work for the Boise V.A. Hospital for a few years then went to work for the state of Idaho at the Department of Health and Welfare as a Supervisor for the Residential Care Licensing Program until retirement.

During their retirement Jim and Barb toured in the country in their motorhome visiting family and making friends along the way.

Jim was a Mason and a Shriner and had the distinct honor of being selected as a Companion of the Ancient and Heroic order of the Gordian Knot. Jim was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Helmer and Helen, his wife Barbara, his son Patrick who was a Gulf war veteran,and his brothers and sisters, Joann, Joyce, Janice, Jack ,and Jerry.

Jim is survived by his son Dan and wife Joyce Iverson, daughter Loree and husband Joe Zubizareta. 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

At Jim’s request, no service will be held. A family interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
