Cathleen K Mascroft

Cathy Checketts held tightly to her loved ones at home (both humans and furry friends) before leaving for her next adventure early on November 10, 2021.

Born on April 16, 1975 to Colleen and Ron Checketts, she was an absolute Aries. Spontaneous and courageous, facing every challenge head on… With decisive determination, she had endless energy and an entrepreneurial dream that saw her open her own business.

Cathy graduated from Borah High, where she would make lifelong friends and come to know her first husband, together bringing son Taylor into the world in 2001. She couldn’t wait to be a mom. With her second husband, she gave us Kelsee and Colton. Cathy’s family was her greatest joy and pride.

She loved the ocean, and Portland’s Rose Festival was annual treat for many years. Changing fall colors also filled her up, and she was good at capturing them with a photographer’s expert eye. She was fiercely loyal and loved hard. She fought like every single moment mattered. And she wasn’t just the life of the party…she was its body, soul and spirit.

Drawing people to her with a brightness unmatched by the sun, she welcomed countless numbers into her home over the years – for a visit or much longer stay. Anyone in need was given a place and many a delicious meal. She was every tasty recipe and life hack she shared. And she was all of the magic moments and quick quips that made everyone around her laugh.

Cathy is survived by her mother Colleen, brother David, children Taylor, Kelsee and Colton, and partner John. While she travels onward without us for now, we are blessed to have shared part of her journey and will celebrate her forever in all of the places and with all of the people she loved.
