Bonnie Rosengrant

December 17, 1942 ~ June 19, 2019 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Bonnie Lee Bast Rosengrant passed away from heart and kidney failure early Wednesday morning, June 19, 2019 at St Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, surrounded by family.  She was 76 years old. 

Bonnie was born to Herman and Hazel Linderman Bast on December 17, 1942 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  At the age of 10 her family moved to Spokane, Washington.  She attended Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, graduating in 1960.  Following high school, she graduated from St Luke’s School of nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1963.  Bonnie worked for many years in hospitals in Washington, Montana and Idaho as an RN. 

It was at CVHS that she met the love of her life, Jerry Dean Rosengrant.  They were married on September 21, 1963 in Spokane.  They lived in the Seattle area, Missoula MT, Spokane WA and Boise ID before finally settling in Council Idaho in 1979.  In 1984, they opened Jerry’s Auto Parts in Council, retiring in 2007. 

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, DeeDee Rosengrant Schwartz (Ken), son, Eric Rosengrant (Angie), grandchildren Matthew Schwartz (Katie) from Caldwell, ID, Cory Schwartz (Ashley) from Nampa, ID, Jared Schwartz from Nampa, ID; Jordan Rosengrant from Boise, ID, Ryan Rosengrant and Brett Rosengrant from Meridian, ID; and great-granddaughters Emma Rose Schwartz and Adilyn Nicole Schwartz from Caldwell, ID and her brother, Larry Bast (Donna) from Benton City, WA along with several nieces, nephews and friends.  She is also survived by her yorkie, Buddy.  She was preceded in death by her son, Dean Michael Rosengrant, her husband, Jerry, and her parents.

Following a private burial service, the family will greet friends at the Council Senior Center, 201 Main Street, Council Idaho on Saturday, July 13 from 12-2pm for a memorial luncheon.  All are invited to come and share your memories of Bonnie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bonnie’s name to the Council Senior Center, Council Valley Ambulance or Council Valley Library.

Rest in peace, our sweet mama!  Everything we are, you helped us to be!  We will love and honor you forever and ever.
