Barbara Iverson passed away at home on June 27, 2017, in Boise, Idaho, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Barbara was born on April 13, 1937, at St Luke's hospital in Boise to Elvin and Bernice Rambo. She grew up northwest of Meridian, now Black Cat Road. Barbara graduated from Meridian High School in 1955. She was very active as a singer in the choir and was selected and honored as the Dairy Show Queen in 1954. Barbara excelled in singing, very often the lead soloist. She sang in several Treasure Valley chord groups, including the Madricol club. She worked as a legal secretary in Boise Law firms. Barbara was a fashion model for the latest designer clothes/hair styles at fashion shows and special events in Boise.
Barbara met Jim Iverson, who was stationed at Mountain Home Airbase. It was love at first sight. They were married at the base chapel and proceeded raising 3 children, Daniel, Loree and Patrick.
During her husband's 22 years in the military; Barbara tirelessly volunteered at the base family assistance programs, wives clubs and as a Red Cross emergency counselor arranging financial support and travel arrangements for family illness/death emergencies.
After her husband's military retirement, they returned to Boise where Barbara resumed her work career in secretarial office management. She also dabbed in private market ventures; i.e.; developed and taught specialized computer techniques to meet company CEO executive's needs.
Barbara joined the Assistance League of Boise and chaired operation school bell program for two years. They fitted needy Boise school children with new clothes.
One of Barbara's proudest achievements was as an instructor at BSU's newly created school of technology. She developed/taught the first Office Occupations course, consisting of basic computer operation, personal dress/appearance/etiquette, office protocol. Resume' interview skills and arranged job interviews. This program was designed to remove young applicants from the unemployment rolls and provide them with marketable skills. It was a pleasant success.
After Barbara and Jim fully retired, they resumed their lifetime passion of traveling to the 4 corners of this great and beautiful country. Their motto was from Charles Karult: 11travel the highways and byways of this great land and be curious/adventurist to see what's over the next hill or around the next bend in the road." During the next 25 years Barbara and Jim traveled in

their motor home with two faithful dogs and lived in 14 different States, studying the regions area in each.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Bernice Rambo; her son Patrick, who was a 100% disabled veteran from the Gulf War.
Surviving Barbara are her husband, Jim of Boise; her son, Dan (Joyce) Iverson; daughter Loree (Joe) Zubizareta; sister, Jackie (Harry) Weeks, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Barbara was the kindest, sweetest, most gracious person anybody ever met. She always had a kind word for people. There was not a mean bone in her body. She will be greatly missed.
Many sincere thanks go out to St. Luke's Parkcenter clinic physicians and staff; St. Luke's Hospital Boise physicians and staff, St. Luke's Hospice Program physicians, nurses and social workers; home health private care givers group C.A.R.E. (caregivers assisting retired elders) staff and Boise Parkcenter Independent Living staff and residents for all their loving, compassionate, treatment and support of Barbara.
At Barbara's request, no services will be held. A family/friends internment will be held at a later date at the State of Idaho Veterans Cemetery.
