October 22, 1944 ~ June 20, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old
Robert Lee Seng Jr "Bob" 72,of Boise, Idaho, died at home, 20 June 2017, in the company of his wife and daughter. On hearing this a dear friend stated, "The world has lost one of the most ingenious, funny, kind, creative, caring, and vivacious people to ever been born."
Robert was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on 22 Oct 1944 to Robert Lee and Shirley (Gillett) Seng. He was their first child and oldest of three boys. Life was on the move as his father was in the Air Force. His brother Thom joined the family and then they moved to Texas City, Texas, then on to Riverside, California, where little brother Mike joined the family, next off to Topeka, Kansas and then in 1958 to Mountain Home, Idaho where Bob graduated high school in 1963.
After graduating Bob attended the University of Nebraska, becoming the first in his family to attend college. He then transferred to Woodbury College in Los Angeles, California where he graduated in 1969 with a degree in Design. He joined the National Guard in California while attending college and was called on during the August 1965 riots in Los Angeles. While at Woodbury college he met fellow design student, Ladonna Mae Boyd and in April of 1970 married the love of his life. In 1971 the couple moved to Boise, Idaho where they have resided since. Bob continued with the National Guard in Idaho. In 1976 a daughter , Makaela Marie completed their family. Bob was very talented and could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He restored old cars, his first was a Ford model A that he worked on in high school. He always had a project car to work on. He and Ladonna started a drapery company in their home and it grew into a good business for many years. Bob was selected to attend school and became a stock broker. He was always curious and quick to learn something new. He built model racing boats with his dad and drove them out on the ponds off State street. He found casting molds and began reading books and soon he learned to make authentic tin soldiers like little boys played with in the old days. He meticulously painted each one until he created a complete set. He built furniture, sketched, tumbled rocks, and learned leather craft. He made beautiful gun holsters ,some trimmed in rattlesnake skin. He had a great sense of humor. Bob had a soft heart and he did many kind and thoughtful things never publically, but privately. The person that came in and stole his heart was his grandson, Aiden Ireland. He loved to build models, draw with him and take him to junk yards looking for treasures. Bob enjoyed his family and was the best guinea pig for Makaela's new recipes.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ladonna . Daughter, Makaela (David) Ireland. Grandson, Aiden Ireland, and his 92 year old mother, Shirley Seng. Two brothers: Thomas Seng of Payette, Michael (Teresa) Seng of Grand View. 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and 10 grand nieces and nephews and one great grand niece.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Seng, and his Aunt and Uncle Jack and Dolores Nease.
In lieu of a funeral the family is holding a celebration of Life at his daughter's home for family and friends. A potluck BBQ on 9 July 2017 3pm. 1008 No Hampton Rd, Boise, Idaho 83704
