Robert F Carbone

January 29, 1920 ~ October 27, 2017 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Bob was born on Thursday, January 29, 1920 in the family home in Somerville, MA.  I can only imagine him as a free spirited boy, riding his bicycle miles and miles around Massachusetts.  His mother, Louisa must have had many anxious moments wondering where he was.  He served in the Army during WW2 traveling to many countries in Europe.  France, Belgium and England were his favorites, especially England where he met the love of his life, Molly.  He was also stationed in Stockton CA where he played on the Army football team.  He loved telling all of us about his days serving our country.  When the war was over Bob sent for Molly and they married.  They celebrated their 71st anniversary in July.  He worked for Buttricks dairy for many years, getting up at 3 am each morning to deliver dairy products to his customers.  If you knew Bob you know how much his customers loved him.  In 1955 Bob and his family moved to California, he called it Califawnya, never losing his Boston accent.  Bob and Molly and their 2 children lived in California’s best days, prune orchards were everywhere.  After retiring Bob and Molly would drive to Pacific Grove and walk on the beach, sometimes 3 times a week. After his beloved Molly died, Bob, Geri and Helen (his ‘almost daughter) scattered her ashes in Pacific Grove.  Bob’s ashes will go there also.  Bob and Molly moved to Eagle Idaho in 2006.  Bob’s neighbors will remember him sitting in his open garage smoking his cigars.  His neighbors were treasured by him and they were wonderful to him, bringing him fresh caught Alaska salmon and John who never failed to shovel snow from his driveway.  After Molly died Bob was heartbroken.  I was very lucky to have him live with me the last few months of his life.  He couldn’t wait to be reunited with his Molly and he didn’t wait long, 3 months to the day he joined her in heaven.  Bob leaves behind his beloved sister Louise Courtney, daughter Geri, grandchildren Matt (Andi), Karen (Uwe), Liz, Michael (Kelly) and Kevin.  Great grandchildren Rob, Ryan, Kathryn, Kristin and Nick and his almost daughter Helen, nephew John (Patty) niece Jean (John). Waiting to welcome him into Heaven were his beloved son, David, his parents and sister Eleanore.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
