Michael Tracy Straight
September 28, 1955- November 19, 2017
On a beautiful Sunday morning, while looking at the mountains from his living room window, Michael Tracy Straight passed away at the age of 62.
Born in Billings, Montana to Joe and Nancy Straight, he grew up loving the solitude and beauty of the mountains in which for many years was his place to pray and worship our Lord.
At the age of 21, Michael decided that because of his love for travel and working with his hands, that his best career choice was to join the Sheet Metal Workers union which brought him over 35 years of pride and fulfillment. This choice took him to many states in the US, although he always returned to his home base in Billings.
In 1985, he watched from his front window a young woman move into the house next door on Harvard Avenue in Billings, and made comment to his buddies, "someday I am going to date that girl." Two years later his prophecy went one-step further and in November of 1987, after a whirlwind courtship, he proposed to Bonnie and enjoyed a loving marriage of 30 years.
Michael adored and was very proud of his children - Amber (Travis), Nicola "kid" (Robert), Luis (former son-in-law), and being "poppa" and "pippa" to his three amazing grandchildren - Tristan, Rubi & Sebastian.
Michael absolutely adored his maternal grandmother Margaret and many times took her to church. It always brought a smile to his face with the memory that she would enjoy one small glass of Port wine in the evenings. He loved betting on the Super Bowl with his Aunt Marilyn and even when she lost, he would still take her out to dinner.
Michael would get the biggest grin on his face whenever he would reminisce about growing up with his brother Dan (Carol), two sisters, Linda (Bill) and Chris, and the numerous times he (in his own words) would be "the fall guy" whenever trouble occurred. He loved to boast that the letter "T" represented "Trouble" rather than "Tracy" for his middle name.
He loved to joke with his two brothers' in law, Jim and Ron (Shari), and his many nieces and nephews- Spencer, Tyler, Adam, Jeremy, James, Robert, Jeff, Becky & Elise.
Funeral services will be held this Saturday (25th) at 10:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary at 1500 E. Wright Street in Boise.
Instead of flowers, please make a donation in Michael's name to any Animal Shelter. He loved his own shelter dogs and firmly believed as a community, we have a responsibility to care for them.
