Betty Elaine Hetrick

October 11, 1928 ~ July 14, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Betty E. Hetrick passed away peacefully in her home Friday morning, July 14, 2017, at 88 years of age with her husband and her daughter, Sue, by her side. She lived a wonderful life that started October 11th, 1928 in Eustis, Nebraska born to Otto and Lydia Wolfe. In 1938 her family moved to the Adrian, OR area in two Model A cars and cleared the land to start a farm.  After graduating from Adrian High School, Betty moved with her parents to Nampa, ID where she worked in a bank. On February 19, 1950 Betty married Irvin Hetrick, known to most by Bud. They were married for 67 years and raised 5 children together. She was devoted to her family. Betty worked as a homemaker, occasionally in the fields, and at the scale house for the Gross family. Betty and Bud loved to dance and enjoyed many fun times with friends at dances in Adrian and across the valley. Betty will always be remembered for her involvement in the community and often in leadership positions in community organizations such as the Wilder Auction, the Wilder United Methodist Church, UM Women, Jolly Janes, TSO, TOPS, 4-H and more. She was also the Harvest Queen in the Harvest Parade in the mid ‘90s and the Wilder 4th of July Grand Marshall with Bud in 2015. She was pleased to have been nominated for these honors. Perhaps Betty's biggest legacy will be her love for and influencing of the many children in the community, whether it was through volunteering as a school room mom, chaperoning school functions, or leading and volunteering for many 4-H clubs in Wilder and Canyon County. She was a favorite aunt and a fun loving grandmother. In her later years, she was very active in the Homedale Senior Center and the Nampa Lowry Organ group. Betty is survived by her husband Bud, 3 sisters, 5 children and their spouses Deborah and Lloyd, Tim, Sue and Ray, Sandy and John, and Tish and Sue Anne, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her mother, father, 4 brothers, 6 sisters and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, July 18, at the Wilder United Methodist Church at 4th and B Street, officiated by her daughter Tish Hetrick. A reception will follow at the Wilder City Park. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Canyon County 4-H Council at 501 Main Street, Caldwell ID 83605.
