You couldn’t ask for a better neighbor or friend than Bud. Yes, he could fix damn near everything but his knowledge extended far beyond engines: I never knew a worm could move so fast until Bud ‘encouraged’ them with 120 volts. Because of Bud, I now know what a ‘chicken with its head cut off’ looks like. And he showed us how that thingamajig and a teeny rubber band function to castrate critters. To a young guy from ‘back East’, Bud was a tolerant teacher.
He was also a very tolerant neighbor to some crazy, young Lieutenants from the Air Base. I think I saw him drink a beer once.
Bud was never one to ‘toot his own horn’. He let his actions speak for himself and when he did speak it was after quiet deliberation.
He and Kathleen graciously opened their home to me on several occasions when they were living away from his beloved Mt. Home. I’ll always remember those visits fondly.
Jim, Sandi, and Georgia, I share your loss and extend my deepest condolences to you all. Your Dad was, simply put, a great guy and I’m glad to have known him.
